We are a friendly, 100-member Community band based in Dublin, Ohio, USA. The ensemble is a standard concert band, made up of woodwinds, brass and percussion instrumentalists. We strive to create a healthy and enjoyable mix of both the musical and social aspects of such an organization.
We are a community band that focuses on being INclusive, not EXclusive. Members have the opportunity to make new friends and to rekindle their love of playing, which may have been a significant part of their high school or college experience (no matter how long ago that might be!).
The Dublin Wind Symphony performs a diverse repertoire consisting of American and International symphonic band literature, classic marches, show tunes and other contemporary pieces.
Dublin Wind Symphony rehearsals are Monday evenings, 7-9 PM, at Dublin Scioto High School: 4000 Hard Road, Dublin, OH. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come have fun and make music.
If you are considering membership, we encourage you to visit our FAQ page or CLICK HERE to register to join us at one of our Monday night rehearsals.
Jeff Chesser, Director
Jeff Chesser has been teaching in Ohio public schools since 1990, and since 1992 in the Dublin City Schools. He earned his Bachelor of Music Degree at Ohio Northern University, where he studied Trumpet with Dr. Edwin Williams and conducting with Dennis Kratzer and John Climer. At The Ohio State University, he studied with Jon Woods, Hilary Apflestadt, James Gallagher, and Richard Blatti as he earned his Master of Arts in Music Education. His current duties include Marching Band and Concert Band, four choirs, and Performing Arts Department Chair at Dublin Scioto High School. His groups have earned superior ratings at OMEA adjudicated events as well as festivals around the Midwest.
Jeff is no stranger to the community band experience. He began in his hometown with the Cambridge City Band even before he graduated from Cambridge High School. Since then he has been a member of the Zanesville Municipal Band, Muskingum Valley Winds, Worthington Civic Band, Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion, and most recently and the Westerville Community Concert Band under the batons of Tim Jameson and Richard Suddendorf. In addition, Jeff now enjoys playing in the Emerald City Swing orchestra and the Dublin Silver Band. Having taught with Jeff Keller, Gary Hodges, and Jim Gray, he recognizes the wealth of talent that resides in Dublin and is thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to direct such fine members of the Dublin community.
Jeff resides in Westerville with his wife, Kris. They are members of the Church of the Messiah United Methodist Church, where they are frequent contributors to the music ministry as singers and instrumentalists.
