2020 Dublin Youth Brass Band Course

Due to COVID19 there will be some major changes to the 7th annual Dublin Youth Brass Band course. The entire course will be held virtually.  Due to the shift online, we have decided that there will be NO CHARGE this year to participate (T-shirts will still be available for $20).

Online Format
As with previous years, we will have guest clinicians as well as tutors from DSB/DMB to help with some individual lessons and sectionals. The online course will take place in two parts (students may sign up for either or both), each culminating in a virtual band recording. One recording will be completed by May 31st as part of the Whit Friday competition and the other will be completed by June 21st as part of a tribute to the canceled Ohio Brass Arts Festival (all times below are EDT).

The online clinics will occur on the following dates:

About the Dublin Youth Brass Band

An Opportunity for ALL students

The Dublin Youth Brass Band course provides a unique opportunity for all students to experience a traditional British Brass Band. Beginning students can be challenged with secondary and tertiary parts, while more advanced students can be challenged with solo parts and unique instruments like the soprano cornet and flugel horn. Low brass students can either play music in bass clef, or take the challenge of learning treble clef like the adult brass bands.

What makes the Dublin Youth Brass Band different?

Unlike many other supplementary groups for music students, the Dublin Youth Brass Band is an inclusive group. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Additionally, many youth music groups only include students. In the Dublin Youth Brass Band, students will have the opportunity to sit near members of the award-winning Dublin Silver Band (DSB) and newly-formed Dublin Metro Brass (DMB). Members of DSB and DMB serve as role models and tutors.  Some of the best music lessons come not from direct instruction, but sitting next to quality players!
